Message from the Chair
The Department of Water and Agricultural Resource Management is one of the two departments of the School of Agriculture in the University of Embu. The department was formed on 1st July 2021 to take over the functions of the departments of Agricultural Resource Management (ARM) and Land and Water Management (LWM) that have been in existence since 2012. The main objective of the department is training, research, innovation, industry linkage and community service in the areas of Agriculture, Horticulture, Livestock production, Water resources management, Soil science, Environmental science, Agroecosystems and Range management. The department envisages to produce graduates with a competitive edge in job market in the areas of sustainable agriculture, land, water resources, soil science, range and environmental management. The department is also committed to exposing the students to the industrial experience through field practicum, field trips, field attachments and internships through partnerships with institutions and organizations countrywide. The department also works closely with industry in curriculum review, development and implementation to ensure our graduates meet the needs of the industry.
The department has graduated undergraduate and postgraduate students since 2016. This has been achieved through the guidance and dedication of the qualified staff members. The team includes 20 academic, three Technicians and three administrative members. The department remains committed to providing quality services to all its clients within and outside the university.
