1) The Department celebrates the promotion of the following lecturers to senior lecturer positions

  1. Dr. Phyllis Muturi (Read More)
  2. Dr. Charles Onyari (Read More)
  3. Dr. Mark Otieno (Read More)

2) Mr. Paul Waweru (Read More) wins DAAD scholarship (https://www.daad.de/en/) to study PhD in Germany. DAAD scholarships are aimed at promoting postgraduate students to study and conduct research at premium universities and research institutions in Germany. Mr. Waweru’s research will be on Modelling the impacts of climate and land-use change on water towers and adjacent river basins: a case study of Mt. Kenya Water Tower.

3) Dr. Mark Otieno (Read More) has won three grants;
(i)     Conservation grant from the American Orchid Society (https://www.aos.org/) to study the pollination ecology of the Leopard Orchid (Ansellia africana) in Kerio Valley, Kenya.
(ii)   A QR fund from Harper Adams University (https://www.harper-adams.ac.uk/) to study the mutualists and antagonists of wild coffee in the Kenyan coastal forests and the Taita Hills.
(iii)  A joint grant from DAAD (https://www.daad.de/en/), the University of Wuerzburg (https://www.biozentrum.uni-wuerzburg.de/en/zoo3/home/) and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (https://www.humboldt-foundation.de/) to attend strategic project meetings and enter into new collaborations with German institutions and conduct research activities in the summer of 2022.
